Dear Ministry of Health and Population,

What provisions has the Nepali government made to facilitate the indigenous group of remaining 156 “Rautes” living in the remote mountains of western Nepal?

Yours faithfully,

Anuja KC

Updated response:

While Ministry of Health and Population has not offered in provision to
facilitate the indigenous group, based on the news sources like Nepali
Times, Nepal based organizations like National Foundation for the
Development of Indigenous Nationalities (NFDIN) has taken initiative to
assimilate Rautes into the general population.

Similarly, in 2005 World Health Organisation (WHO) announced that it would
provide aid for the "upliftment of the nomadic Raute tribe" and help in
its resettlement. Similarly, CARE Nepal another organization has also
looked into helping Rauted by categorizing them under "Disadvantaged
Groups (DAG)".
